About The Vision

Standalone_Computer_Collage At its core, we are a resource to help photographers run their professional businesses more successfully.

The ProPhotographerJourney.com podcast offers info-packed interviews and actionable lessons from successful photographers in the industry. We have a growing number of interviews up on the PPJ podcast with photographers who have worked at photo shoots with Oprah Winfrey to being stationed on the Red Carpet.  It’s too much fun! It’s been a blast speaking with professionals in the industry.

It’s all about collaboration, not competition, and the PPJ’s goal is to help grow that. Through the stories and lessons from the photographers that we chat with, we’re forming a community to help each other rise to the top. All of our stories are connected, after all.

Through our podcast, we seek to close that gap between creativity and business that so many photographers struggle with on a daily business. Many get discouraged and give up, which is what we’re trying to prevent. We pick up where formal college education leaves off by offering real-world, practical advice directly from more experienced photographers who have rolled up their sleeves and been in the trenches for years. As with any business, lifestyle is a huge and yet often overlooked area, so we shed some light on that too. We also cover the positioning of your business to your target demographic, because that’s equally as important, but not always given adequate consideration from the outset of many new creative businesses.

It’s exciting to think about thousands of photographers being educated from the comfort of their own homes, studios, workplaces, and coffee shops!

In addition, with the advent of more affordable digital photography equipment, the line between being a “hobbyist” and being a “pro” photographer are becoming more and more blurred. One is not better than the other; it simply depends on the individual’s goals. We seek to help educate creatives about that distinction.
