Today we discuss selling before the shoot ever happens, knowing who your target market is, and having clients for life.

Top 3 Tips From the Interview:
1. Start the selling process before the shoot ever happens.
Don’t wait until after the shoot to ask the client what photos they want to order. Instead, begin guiding them through the sales process by discussing which final print sizes they want and where they want these prints in their living or working space before the shoot ever happens. This can increase your sales because the client is being taken through the process of being pre-sold as they mentally “buy-in” to the idea of purchasing prints and hanging it on their walls.
2. You want clients for life.
Don’t let the first shoot be the last time that you talk to a client. Reach out to them periodically in order to nurture a life-long relationship. They will inevitably have multiple life events over the years that will need to be documented, so stay in front of them in case they need to hire you again.
3. Define your target client.
The success of your business hinges on knowing what people you are the best fit for. Carefully define who your target audience is, and then find out what they like, how they communicate, where they hang out (online and offline), and how much they like to spend.
